Ignore that last post !!

So... you're trying to access the the site and you get an installation screen?
2 possible issues here..
1. you've got a db log file in \App_Data
2. You have .Net Framework cache issue(s)

If you have a database_log file in your \App_Data folder you need to delete it.

1. Close all web browsers into the web site
2. Open your "Task Manager" and find w3wp.exe, right click on it and select "End Process"

As long as no w3wp.exe process is running on the machine hosting the site, and where the database is located, you should be able to open the \App_Data folder and delet ethe database_log file

Next, go C:\Windows\.Net Framework\
Shell down to the \Temp folder for v2.x and v4.x and delete EVERYTHING below \Temp

Now, restart your IIS via the cmd line IISRESET at the prompt
Hit the site again...

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your time in responding to my problem. I followed your instructions, and am still seeing the installation screen.

I was able to delete the log file from App_Data, and deleted temporary files which I'm assuming were the same you were referring to under C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.x and v4.x and deleted everything under \Temporary ASP.NET Files.

I was not able to restart IIS using the cmd link IISRESET command. I did restart by right-clicking on the Site in IIS Manager and clicking Restart.

I'm frustrated because the only thing I changed was removing User Instance=True from the web.config file to do a back-up of the database. After that was done, I added it back and have not been able to access the website since.

If you have any other ideas for me, I would appreciate it, but thanks anyway for trying to get me on the right track.

Jenny

Jenny, I suggest altering BOTH connection Strings in web.config to use an attached database, which will allow you in the future accessing it with Management Studio or other tools while running the web site. read here for details: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/1202/DNN-SQLExpress-SQL-Server-Management-Studio.aspx

Cheers from Germany,
