Hi everyone

The DNN Pro 5.6.3 was released today (got an email) and I went ahead and tried it on my localhost environment to test the upgrade. My localhost is used for testing and upgrading, and thus it has the latest versions of DNN installed (5.6.2 until now) and quite a few modules, but no real content.

The install went fine for most part, except for 1 line:

Upgrading DotNetNuke

I hope DNN Tech team will correct this upgrade error :)

I've had the exact same problem, did you install the telerik  6.0 from the out of patch from 5.6.2? I noticed Jo posted on the blog post below.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/3100/DotNetNuke-5-6-3-Released.aspx

where jo mentioned something which i have asked for him to clarrify.

Hi Craig

Yes, I believe I've installed Telerik 6.0 in an attempt to fix some of the issues the editor had. And as always, I've installed it first on my localhost before installing it on the production server. That upgrade went without any problems :)

I can see Joe mentions editing the dnn database. Well I'd like a fix to the upgrade before applying it to my production server so I don't have to try and fix a broken site afterwards by manually hacking the database...

Hi,
I had the same issue and seems to be a "patch" error while trying to modify the web.config file during the upgrade process. The solution is simple:
1) After applying the 5.6.3 upgrade, uncompress the file Install\Module\Telerik_05.06.03_Install.zip that comes within the upgrade package
2) Copy the "bin" and "documentation" folders and overwriting your site
3) Open your web.config file and locate the section "configuration/runtime/assemblyBinding/dependentAssembly" and add the following line (and

4) Comment the previous binding redirect:

For some reason, the patch engine is not doing this job automatically (I believe that is for nameSpacePrefix="ab" attribute in the patch file, but I'm not sure).

I've doing this upgrading an DNN Azure deployment, so I can also say that the 5.6.3 upgrade works fine in Azure...if you add this line to the web.config file.

Hoping this helps.

Looks like a staff member has mentioned on a blog a fix.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/3102/Difficulties-with-Telerik-during-upgrade-to-5-6-3.aspx

I've still noticed that in extensions libary that it still says 6.0 instead of 5.6.3 which have asked scott, the fix though he mentioned has got my site back online though.
