I Setup a domain alias to setup a second portal with DNN. When I send mail from the host portal (www.mydomain.com) all sends well using an email address I setup in my mail settings. When I try to send mail from the other portal I get the following error: How can I send from all portals? AMhosting tells me this is a DNN configuration issue.

Error: is currently unavailable.

If you are running multiple portal/domains off the same server hosting your smtp server needs to be able to handle the fact that dnn does not configure smtp settings per Portal - but instead expect there to be only one smtp server for the hosting.

What this error is saying is that the sender email address is not allowed or recognized by the smtp server - or in other words the smtp server is not allowing and open relay - but instead only permitting specific email addresses thru.

Why would this work from Portal 0 but not portal 1 since the smtp settings are the same( only 1 setting?)

So to solve this I RTFM and changed my SMTP settings to 127.0.0.1 and anonymous.  Would have been nice for AMhosting support to tell me I could relay through localhost.
