The new dnn600 rad editor supports many new capabilities such as custom toolbar layouts for individual roles and individual pages.  These features are not supported by the older FCK editor.  Also there have been some reports on these forums of other issues with the fck editor not working properly in dnn600.

What I meant is that I believe its an oversight that the new radeditor provider is not being installed automatically as part of the dnn upgrade package - leaving the only option for installing it being the manual approach.

BEsides, there are known security issues with fckeditor 2 version included in latest editor provider. Either use latest CKEditor 3 provider (freely evailable at dnnckeditor.codeplex.com) or switch to radeditor.

OK, installed, all OK now. That was easier than I thought it was going to be! Thanks all.

Once the provider is installed you should see a new Option on the Host menu - HTML Editor Manager or some such - this is where u control the new provider.

Note - you will need to use this to actually turn the new provider on - by default the system will still be running your old FCK provider initially - go to the manager and select the DotNetNuke.RadEditor as your new provider.
