You mean test this on live sites after the errors I have seen on a test site, I don't think that will happen.

Since this Dark Knight skin is part of the upgrade, one would presume it has been created by DNN, and I would have thought it would have been throughly tested before this release.

I am a IT Implementation Project Manager and I have been called in many times by companies when a release has not gone how they have planned, I always look at the testing stratergy, testing plans etc and 9 times out of 10, they have been rushed through in order to meet deadlines, which appears to be the case here.

However, I am sure that somewhere within the DNN community, someone will look at this and make the changes to the Dark Knight skin, and I hope that is sooner rather than later.

According to you notes above - you did an upgrade of some sort, then tried to change to the minimal entropy skin - and something about installing the darkknight skin.

In a clean dnn600 install the darkknight skin is the only skin installed - minimal entropy is not part of the dnn600 install - also not understanding why you would have had to install the darkknight skin as such its part of the base install.

How exactly did you set up dnn600 on your test site.

Also with regard to your live sites - what i am suggesting is that with such a massive upgrade - you should move a copy of each LIVE site to a test platform and perform an upgrade there - NEVER do an upgrade on a LIVE site as such until you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.

Having said that, we have not converted about 20 sites of varying complexity over to dnn600 - sites that contain any number of varied modules and extensions and skin types - all have converted successfully - with only some minor skinning issues on a couple of the old mega-menu skins needed to be updated.

The process I did was:

1: Already had 5.6.3 installed ( full Install).
2: Downloaded upgrade package 6.0.
3: As per instructions, copied files, over wrote existing files.
4: Launched test site and successfully went through upgrade process.
5: Restarted server.

So the Minimal Entropy skin is part of V5.6.3 and the Dark Knight skin is part of V6. So when I applied the dark Knight skin and had a look at it, and moved some of the modules around on a page, then reverted back to the Minimal Entropy is when the errors started to happen.

You should log this workflow on support.dotnetnuke.com as a possible bug
  - its sounds like an issue dealing with how the skinning system handles placement of modules.

Hi,

I tried to reproduce this issue http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/V..., and upgraded DNN CE 05.06.03 (Release) to CE 06.00.00 (Release). After that I followed steps:

1.     Changed skin to the Dark-Knight
2.     Moved Http  Module from central pane to left pane
3.     Logout
4.     Login
5.     Changed skin back to the Minimal Extropy
6.     Logout
7.     Login

There was no any Exception thrown during all process of upgrading and skins changing.

Could you please give more information about the issue – which build of CE 6.00.00 you used (Beta, Beta2 or Release); Version of SQL Server (2005, 2005 Express, 2008, or 2008 express); what had you done before you changed the skin back to Minimal Extropy?
