I have been having a problem inserting a link into an html module.  I add the link in the html module, the text for the link is displayed  but instead of going to the external link, the current page is re-displayed.

If I look at the content using basic text box mode, the URL I entered  is not present in the A tag... just empty " " marks.

If I add the URL manually using basic text box, when I save the URL disappears and the link still does not work (goes back to the same page where the html module is).

I've tried deleting the html module and starting over, but the behavior is the same.

The only other module on the page is Child Links module.

A link to the same external website on another page in an html module works fine.

I'm using DNN 5.6.3.

Any suggestions?
Jill

please go to module settings and make sure, you are using direct publish workflow - otherwise you need to check "publish" after each modification.

I am using 'direct publish', so that didn't fix things.     Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Jill

Duh....
I think the problem was related to an alias that had changed.
The URL which kept disappearing was a domain name that had been moved to another host and I'd forgotten to remove it from the alias list for the portal. I had only entered 2 links in the html module....one worked and the other didn't..... and the one that didn't was the lingering alias.
When I deleted the alias, it appears that the URL links now work.

Sometimes we create our own problems.
