Hi, when we are allowing verified user account creation on 5.6.1. When a user creates an account, we get an error on the page that says that the registration system isn't available.

When checking the user accounts screen we see the user is there but not verified. A verification email is never sent to the user who created the account.

When i checked the DNN logs, i see that there is there are a lot of errors similar to the following every time we try to create a user:

HELP!!!

We have set the SMTP information in the host settings and the test link returns that an email was sent. We we make a password request, a password reminder email is sent. However, when we create a user, the verification email is never received.

First, make sure the SMTP credentials are correct (valid SMTP server, user is your full email address, password is the actual email password), if you're sure it's correct, you may check with your hosting provider and see what happens.
