Can anyone help with this???

I am using DNN 5.6.3. There is a Telerik editor that is included with DNN. However, in safari (Imac pc) I am experiencing huge editing problems. Although thats not been the case until yesterday!

The editor is inserting code where it should not. It will not recognise text, colour and font changes.

It is resizing text and even not making any changes at all on some occasions.

If you write a line of text it does it correct. Insert a link and it changes either the link or the preceding text or all of it! A real NIGHTMARE!!!!!! 4 hours of messing to alter a few lines of text!!!!! that should have taken about 1 minute!!!

Here are some code snippets to look at taken from within the editor after dozens of attempts to put 2 lines of text on a page with the second line being a page link.

2 lines of text.. appears normal....:-

Submit your business<br />
<br />
Submit your business

2nd line of text now has a link inserted

Submit your business<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.iconnect-cyprus.com/iConnectDirectory/Submityourbusiness.aspx">Submit your business</a>

it has now changed the font size of the link and the font type on the page (Text shows blue in the editor..css i expect..

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="line-height: normal; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #000000;">Submit your business</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="line-height: normal; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; color: #000000;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><a href="/iConnectDirectory/Submityourbusiness.aspx"><span style="line-height: normal; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #000000;"></span></a><a href="/iConnectDirectory/Submityourbusiness.aspx">Submit your business</a><br />
</div>

this is with 'full justification set'...

on the page the linked text is now 12pt arail..... not the 16pr its supposed to be

further attempts at editin:- now it wont let me change the font or the size of the linked text

however the text is now the blue colour i want it to be..

As you can see from the above it is all a bit of a mess!!!!! Some help would really be appreciated!!

We did manage to get this to work by editing on a windows machine in IE. However the editor is unusable sometimes in IE too!!

i recommend you try an install of 6.0 to see if that's resolved any of the problems - as well as upgrading the version of the telerik dll and typically telerik fix browser issues with new releases.

actually you should first try the live radeditor samples e.g. http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/editor/examples/default/defaultcs.aspx to see if they work or not.

Thanks for your reply.

DNN6 is being looked at right now prior to an upgrade.

The strange thing is is that the editor WAS working OK..

The same thing with IE... we have a couple of sites we just cannot edit in IE at all but no problems with safari or FF. It would be useful to know why this is.

The other frustrating part is that we have a couple of clients who work on their sites and when the editor goes pear shaped we have to go in and try to fix things for them.

I'll look also at the link you have supplied too.

Cheers

it would seem likely then that the problem is that the browsers updated, either silently or the users got prompted. This is a common problem and is why browsers such as safari, chrome and firefox often dont get used in large companies as they want to control when upgrades happen - I used to work for a fortune-500 and we had a "gold" disk of software and it was the only software allowed on PC's as all of it's upgrades were controlled via active directory GPO's - which was insanely frustrating as we were still stuck on IE6 when IE8 was out, but it meant that all websites could safely assume that all users were on IE6 (all the dev's ran portableapps.com firefox off usb sticks naturally :)) . You can disable update checks for safari - http://techdows.com/2010/10/turning-o... , but hopefully 6.0 will have better safari support and make that unnecessary.
