Hi,

I just installed the new DNN 6. I'm using an old skin which I already used with DNN4. Everything looks fine so far. But when I click on "User Login" or "Register" the module looks messed up in Internet Explorer 9. In Firefox or Google Chrome everything looks great. I'm still using tables in my skin template. Is there anything that I could do fixing that problem with the IE?

When you say messed up, what is messed up please? I converted an old skin to 6.0 and it looks fine in IE I have also logged in ok and the admin looks ok. Is it wrong when viewing the website, or is it the login screen, or the admin that is wrong?

Hi Harald,

This is probably a doctype issue.  I experience the same issue when using a HTML 4.0 Transitional doctype but not when using a XHTML 1.0 Transitional doctype.  I'm not sure if there is a great solution other than moving to an XTHML doctype which may require other adjustments in your skin.  I hope this helps.

Jon's probably  right, you should use an XHTML doctype for your skin.
Please realise that most skin that do work in IE without an XHTML doctype use a lot of hacks and mostly also tables to make sure the skin works. Mainly because IE does not render according tot he W3C standards if it's in "transitional mode".

IE does a much better job with an XHTML doctype allowing you to use cleaner HTML and CSS.
So blame IE, not DNN :-)
