We are using Professional but have found we really haven't used it's features too much. As a small business the cost is significant to us so we are thinking about moving to the Community edition. A couple of questions...
  • What is the technical process for moving from a Professional installation to Community?
  • If we give up the Professional edition, can we still open support cases and play on a case-by-case basis? If so, what is the cost of each incident?

Thanks.

Mark

By the way, there would seem to be two approaches to making this move.
  • Tinker with an existing Professional installation (with my web site) to remove the apprroprate DLLs, ensure the "Community integrity" of web.config and so on.
  • Install a fresh install of Community and the move the appropriate files/modules for my web site (none of which use Professional features) into that Community installation

From the perspective of having a "clean" installation the second of these is my preference but I'd be interested in suggestions as to which approach is best.

Thanks.

Mark

AFAIK there is no supported option to switch from PE to CE, there are a number of modules you need to replace, starting with HTML Pro module. Depending on the size of your site, it might be easier to set up a new site, install required modules, skin etc. and copy-paste over content per module or using SQL.
Regarding your other question, AFAIK DNN Corp.. does not offer single support tickets, however, there are a number of professional intergrators offering DotNetNuke services for all editions or CE specific - e.g. a number of core team members from the US and Europe (including me and my company).
