I upgraded our test environment to 5.6.2 to 6.0. The upgrade went through without any errors.

But the house menu is throwing this error:

we have HouseMenu 1.4 installed. My questions DNN 6.0 is not compatible with HouseMenu 1.x. Do we need a higher version or is it missing some configuration. Is this a known issuse. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Error: nav is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at TimRolands.DNN.Modules.HouseMenu.HouseMenu.RenderMenuItem(Int32 itemId) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Thanks,

Yes, I would guess that the House Menu isn't compatible with DNN 6. I think it has been three or four years since that has been updated.

On the other hand, the menu module in DotNetNuke has been greatly enhanced during that same period of time. For DotNetNuke 6, the default menu is the DDR Menu. If I were you, I would take advantage of the opportunity to update your skin to this GREAT new menu.

A number of menu providers have had problems with 6.0.  A lot of these issues have occurred as a result of the menu developers taking shortcuts or bypassing the dnn api to get at the menu data directly.

House MENU is pretty old in terms of menu systems and there is something in the back of my mind that the 1.x version was not based on the dnn menu provider model.  Checking their website - it does not seem like there has been any real work on the menu since 2009.

There is an old 2.0beta version of the menu on their site - which does support the dnn menu provider model.
It maybe  worth trying that to see if it works.

Otherwise I would suggest your best bet would be to move over to the native dnnmenu engine which is much more powerful and functional.
And should be fairly easy to convert over to.

Thanks you for the quick response, we will look into using the DDR Menu.
