Hi,

Now that I am moving my business to DNN, I need to get a better control on how the page source is rendered. Google specify in the SEO specification document that the Title tag must be directly under the head tag.

Any documents or explanation on how to move things around?

the title is injected via code, so the only way you can change this is via codeedit and AFAIR that's awkward as we use the Page.Header.Title settining in asp.net which places the title where it believes is correct i.e. it would have to be changed to a placeholder similar to the way css files are injected in default.aspx

BTW if you're interested in SEO the wiki has some good tips - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Search-Engine-Optimization.aspx

Hi Cathal,
I have been pounding on this issue for some time (well, since the 5.x version that introduced it) and because I noticed that the page title is still the last item on dnn6 head I logged an item in gemini (DNN-17186). Nobody has taken any action yet, as far as I can see.

In the meantime, could you perhaps give us some more details on how to 'patch' this, please, and possibly in a way that does not require us to compile code? A dirty patch that may even be overwritten by future upgrades will do for the time being.

Thanks

the problem is that i dont think there is an easy way as it's put there by the asp.net framework and not dotnetnuke code (i guess you could catch the page generation via a httphanlder and rewrite it but it's a massive effort) - the alternative is to change the default.aspx.cs code that writes page.header.title and replace it with code that writes to a placeholder control - those changes are pretty straightforward (take a look at how the stylesheet injection is handled on the same page)
