Hi

I am trying to install DNN6 on W2K3 web edition and although the installation wizard runs at the end, after setting the portal details I get the error: - The type or namespace name ''GetTermController'' does not exist in the namespace "Util"
There is a load of other stuff around this, but this appears to be the importanat bit of the message.
If I try to browse to the site it gives me "An error has occurred." and no further info, although if I look in the DB log I find the same error as above.
I have tried installing by extracting the install package and also using the web installer. The App Pool is using Network Service account and I have given the directory full permission for the Network Service account.
We previously had DNN 5 running on this server so I am confident that .Net framework etc is OK.

Any ideas on how to proceed as I have to get this up and working today and have been working on it now for 2 days and some of the night.

Thanks

Keith

Which version of dnn5.x were you running - this does look and feel like a asp.net version issue still.

Maybe - it would be worth installing asp.net 3.5 sp1 again for starters.
ALSO which version of MS SQL do you have installed ?

Thanks for the reply

Previously we were running version 5.02.

I have reinstalled 3.5 sp1, but this has not helped.

We are using sql2008 R2

Thanks

We have got this sorted now.
We installed 5.x in a virtual directory under our current website which is based on another CMS system. This worked fine, but it appears that 6.x does not like this config. We installed in a new website on a sepearate IP and it was fine. We think that the virtual directory was inheriting some settings from the parent that it didn't like.

In asp.net systems web.configs get inherrited from parent to child - so yes you can get into issues with things like virtual folders.

With complex application frameworks like dnn you should always try to install the root of your hosting.
