We are using a Validation Rule on a Rich HTML field that limits the amount of characters allow for that field.

Here is the statement we are using:
^.{0,1001}$

Which will only allow no more than 1000 characters.

It works beautifully if we force the field to use plain text, but it does not implement its validation if we use the Rich Text.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Yes. the RTE wraps your input either with <p> or with <div> tags, depending on configuration and your current RT provider.

Yes we know that already, but we want to know how to get it working with the RTE.

Stefan --

Is there any way around this to get it to work with the RTE?

Or is there another solution to limit the amount of characters in a field, that uses the RTE?

Thanks again!
