Hi I have DNN 5.0.0 and my admin site is slow; besides we created a news module that creates a page per news (I know... doesn't seem right but yes we did) now we have around five thousand pages and the performance decreased plus when updating a page through our module it takes a lot of time or gives the following errors:

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
or
Null Pointer exception

The lines that give that errore on my code are:

                category = NewsContext.NewsCategory.FirstOrDefault(c => c.NewsCategoryID == categoryID);
                category.TabsReference.Load();

                parentID = category.Tabs.TabID;

If I retry two or three times more everything works fine.

Any ideas?

A few things:

1. Consider upgrading. Performance got better at 5.6.x. 6.0, so far seems even faster.
2. Tabs in the db have contributed to performance issues before. The more tabs (even unused) the slower the site.
3. are you sure this news module is really creating more "tabs" in DNN? Which module?
4. Can you change modules to something like Ventrian News Articles or DigNuke, etc that doesn't create new tabs in DNN?

Hard to tell from that error.
