Apparently, nothing has yet been done with my bug report..

Any idea what happened with it, if anything at all?

unfortunately by the time you logged it 6.1.0 was in QA lockdown (i.e. we could only fix issues with code added at that point and not any new issues - except in extreme cases such as showstoppers at which point we would triage the issue). I believe it is an important issue and have raised its priority and will ask the QA/product management team to consider it for 6.1.1

That seems fair, as this bug is not really a showstopper. It will only hit people upgrading from previous DNN's, that have at some point deleted profile-fields marked as 'Required'.

They can then use the workaround described here, untill 6.1.1 :)
