I have posted on this problem before but didn't get a response that helped fix the problem. Background is that we have a site on Godaddy (I know!) that runs three portals. It was running well until I tried to upgrade to DNN V 6.0. After the upgrade the site wouldn't open. I rolled the update back and now the pages open, but when I log in as administrator the HTML modules show an error message. Looking in the error logs I see a message   "DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Unknown server tag 'dnnweb:DnnImage".

When the upgrade script for upgrading to V 6 ran it reported errrors for the following file packages; HTML_Community_05.06.00_Install  versions 00 thru .03, Messaging_05.06.00_Install versions 00 thru .03, and Taxonomy_05.06.00_Install versions 00 thru .03. I don't know if these errors would cause problems with the rollback.  Is there a way to repair the installation, or if not copying the database, doing a clean installation with our skins and modules and then restoring our original database?

I am a total novice at DotNetNuke trouble shooting so any help would be appreciated. I'd have to have to rebuild these portals from the ground up.

Thanks in advance.

I am assuming you used the GoDaddy upgrade and not the manual method, otherwise you would have both data and DNN backups, under your control.

DNN rolls back in steps; are you certain you rolled all the way back to where you were stable (presume 5.6.0 from the post) ?  It is easy to tell because if you did not, GoDaddy will tell you you are not at 5.6.0 and the roll-back option will still be present.  To get to 5.6.0 you should have had to tell it to roll back 3 separate times (yes, even if you went forward in one step...).  It sounds like you are not all the way back...  You have 14 days...

I have had many, many a time an upgrade went south (almost always) but never ever a time that the roll-back was not successful if I went all the way back.

The errors you see are common with GoDaddy scripted upgrades, which is why they rarely are successful.  I was 0 for 9 upgrading from 5.6.2 using GoDaddy scripts and 7 for 7 [with 2 to go] doing it manually.  Dealing with 6.0 quirks on the first 7 has me in no rush on the last 2...

You should make sure you have a user backup of your db at some stable point.  If the roll-back is successful, do it immediately then...  GoDaddy wants a fortune if they have to go back to tapes for you...

Thank you Bob,

Good information, unfortunately I have been fighting with this long enough so that additional rollbacks are not available. In poking around on the web I have seen reference to modules being repaired. I am wondering if there is a way to determine which items are broken and replace those.

I did not realize Godaddy would go back in tapes for find past backups. Is that a possibility as a last resort?

It is an option.  It was hundreds of dollars when I last checked...

I don't envy you w/o a known good db or package...  The db would be most bothersome as I know of no way to parse for 'correctness'.
