I submitted this as a bug in Gemini but was hoping to get someone else's input on this issue.

The issue, which had occurred in the past with DNN6 RC, is that a fresh install of DNN6.0.1 doesn't initialize the data scripts required to complete the installation of DNN while using the install wizard. Someone in a thread suggested clearing the browser cache and reloading the page but nothing I do works. I've tried a fresh install on DNN6.0.1 on Windows Server 2003 x86 and Windows 7 x64 and both get the same results.

Anyone have any advice please?

Sincerely,
Darrell Chapman

i remember the error from the beta/rc's but it was fixed and I've not heard any reports of it in the production releases I'm afraid. I can only recommend that you check both connection strings in the web.config and also test your database connection - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Testing-database-connections.aspx

Thanks for your response.

Actually I got it to work on my Windows 7 machine. Still having problems on the Windows Server 2003. I did experience this issue with the Release Candidate but not with 6.0.0. It seems to be back, at least for me, with 6.0.1.

I will try your suggestion about testing the database connection.

Thanks again,
Darrell Chapman

the server problem may be something different - windows 2003 came with IE7 locked down in whats called enhanced security mode. This is known to cause javascript issues on various applications i.e. if you install by browsing via IE locally on the machine - it may be that DotNetNuke is seeing this. Installing to the server by browsing from a different browser (or from a different machine) may resolve - or you can disable the enhanced security http://www.visualwin.com/IE-enhanced-security/

Thanks again for your replies and offers to help.

Unfortunately that's not the issue.

1) On all of my Windows Server 2003 installations I always either uninstall the IE Enhanced Security Configuration or install FireFox to use for web browsing.
2) This problem occurs whether I use a locally hosted web browser or try a remote web browser.

I've tried IE, FF, and Chrome remotely and all experience the same issue. It has to be something server-specific however nothing is written to any logs.

Like I said before I've only experienced this issue with 6.0 Release Candidate and 6.0.1. I don't think I've ever seen in on 6.0.0.

Sincerely,
Darrell Chapman

P.S. I am trying one more Windows 2003 Server and it that doesn't work, I'll install 6.0.0 and perform an upgrade to 6.0.1.
