Hi there guys

I have been having a number of issues with restoring my copy of DNN from the Live Server to my Local machine so that I can do some work on it.

Here are the steps I performed to restore it:
  1. Backup website files and database
  2. Restore database, and copy files to directory
  3. Update PortalAlias table with URL for testing.
  4. Add URL to host file and setup IIS
  5. Change database connection string to point to new test database
On browsing to the test site the website comes up but with no skinning.

On inspection by FIrebug I can see that the website is not loading the CSS files properly even though they do exist:

404 Url Not Found<br>The requested Url (http://dev.xxxx/Portals/_default/Skins/xxxx/skin.css?4456549) does not return any valid content.@import url("css/menu.css");

I can also see on the form:
A critical error has occurred. An unexpected error has occurred

I have not found a way to get around this issue and its costing me time and money at the moment.

Any help here would be much appreciated.
