Sigh. Truth be told it's the third attempt.  First one started in 2003 when no such forums existed.  I want to develop a DNN siteon my VAIO XP first then migrate it to the web. I still have dreams of doing that! By end of 2004 someone who knew DNN v1.0, installed all the prelim sys software on my BRAND NEW top of the line VAIO with Win XP.  He installed some non-XP versions of IIS (for NT and said it won't make a difference). Etc. But I think it did make a big difference - as since then, everytime I try to load my DNN v1.x Site locally (which had been working, and on the net, hosted elsewhere) it comes up with errors.

Now I want to go with DNN v3.0.  I don't even know what to look for on my VAIO, or what I should I remove before doing any of this, if anything? Is there a checklist anywhere? Thousands of pages to read out there, which ones should I start with?

My suggestion is to download a copy of the installation guide.  It is invaluable when installing DNN3.  I was amazed at how easy it was...both in a desktop environment (XP) and in a full intranet/internet environment.  v3 can be installed totally distinct from v1.  No problem there.
