Hi. I have a relatively new installation of DNN 6. I have poured a ton of content in to it however, so I don't want to reinstall if I can help it.

Here is my problem. I wanted to add an events module to a page so I went to the extensions area logged in as host. I went to available extensions and installed the extension for events. It said the installation was successfull but now I cannot find the extension anywhere. It it not listed in the installed extensions nor is it available to add as a modult to any page. It is not listed on the available to install area either.

So I went to the forge and downloaded the install module of the events and tried to reinstall again, but this time I get SQL failures indicating that the module is in place.

Any ideas of where to look to fix this problem?

I also posted this issue under the modules area of the forum.

Thanks for any help.

I would do this:

1) Check if the module is installed by looking at "Installed Extensions" or by visually verifying the file system at /DesktopModules. When you re-installed the did it prompt you for Repair indicating the module is already installed?

2) Assuming if the module is installed, make sure you're looking in appropriate module category when adding it on the page. Also check if the module is configured as "Premium Module" and if so either make a regular module or assign it to the portal.

Lastly, if you're comfortable with SQL then you can simply check the ModuleDefinition tables to see if the module is listed there. If it's there and it's not set as Premium then I do not see any reason why it would not show up in Control Panel as an option to add to the page.

Thanks for the reply.

It is not listed in either installed extensions or available extensions.
The file system does have the events module in desktopmodules.
When I reinstalled it, it did not prompt for repair.

2) Assuming if the module is installed, make sure you're looking in appropriate module category when adding it on the page. Also check if the module is configured as "Premium Module" and if so either make a regular module or assign it to the portal.

The Module is not listed as either a regular or premium module. It is not available to add.

Lastly, if you're comfortable with SQL then you can simply check the ModuleDefinition tables to see if the module is listed there. If it's there and it's not set as Premium then I do not see any reason why it would not show up in Control Panel as an option to add to the page.

It is not listed in the ModuleDefinition Table, however there are several tables that have the Event prefix in the SQL database.

It seems to me that the install completed but somehow it failed to add the row to the module definition table. Is it possible to add a row manually? I do have access to the database through Enterprise Manager. What would I put in each field so that I can repair the installation? Conversly, what if I drop the tables that begin with events? would this cause long problems as the dll's may still be registered?

Thanks for the reply!
