I downloaded and installed DNN 6.0.1 on localhost but I can't get it to install on my hosting account (SoftsysHosting.com).  It always crashes after building the database and during the install of additional modules with the error message below.  I have the .NET framework set to 4.0.  The crash seems to be related to the "Telerik" module which is apparently required since it can't be unchecked.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

DotNetNuke Error

System.InvalidOperationException: '~/Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource.axd' is missing in web.config. RadStyleSheetManager requires a HttpHandler registration in web.config. Please, use the control Smart Tag to add the handler automatically, or see the help for more information: Controls > RadStyleSheetManager at Telerik.Web.UI.RadStyleSheetManager.OnPreRender(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

It looks to me that you haven't setup well your hosting. If you have on your ISP a Hosting environment using Plesk, I have to tell you that you can't install DNN on the root (httpdocs) path by permission restriction.  Plesk diod not allow to change the permissions on the httpdocs folder!
You must have to set the following permissions:

Virtuell directory must have read access to the root (httpdocs) path, Application settings must have execute permissions for scripts and executeables. Allso allow to use parent paths.

Folderpermissions from your DNN root path (httpdocs) must have read permissions for IIS user and applicationpool user must have change, write, execute and read permissions.

Also on Plesk mostly the databaseOwner is not 'dbo' and you have to change this setting on the wizard or web.config file to the database user.

Please notice that if you have a new install that was failed , please delete the database user and database, and recreate it.  Then reupload all files and re-check all permissions before you rertun the install.

I don't think it's Plesk or a permissions problem.  It passes the permissions test, builds the database and then crashes on the next step; installing additional modules.  I brought the problem to the attention of Softsys Tech Support and he tried several times as well.  It failed for him as well and he ended up installing 5.4.3 successfully.  He thought there might be a bug in 6.0.1.  I'm not sure where to go from hear.  Maybe I'll delete everything and give it one more try.

It's not just that it won't install for me; it won't install for Softsys Tech support either. Take a look at the communication below from Softsys. It had a screen capture of the error which was thrown by attempting to install the "Telerik" module. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to attach the image. I think somebody at DNN ought to give them a call and work it out. It's beginning to look to me like you have a bug in 6.0.1.

I would probably say this has more to do with their hosting environment or how they are attempting the install and not DNN 6.0.1. We've been deploying new installs of DNN 6.0.1 for our customers quite successfully since its recent release. These installs our also being done on Plesk environments right in the root directory (httpdocs) so it shouldn't be a problem with permissions at all.

If you are interested in getting set up on a DNN 6.0.1 site, you are welcome to check out our services at www.PowerDNN.com. We are currently running a special "6.0 for $60" promo for the year of hosting on our basic tier. We would also assist with the deployment of a brand new DNN install for you at no charge. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding our hosting.
