1. Silly as it sounds have you checked oth connections strings - the real one and the legacy one?
2. have you double checked the app pool for the .NET version you are running compared to old server
3. have you checked permissions on the files and the db

You can also try toggling (if it's false now, switch it to true, or false if it's true) these settings in the web.config. These two settings can cause DNN to redirect to installation to give an error if it's trying to upgrade but isn't allowed or visa versa

Were both true, I switched off but nothing changed

My guess is that it is either unable to communicate with the database (did you change both SQL strings on the web.config?) or there is a file missing or miss match in the file system files and the DB version.

I am quite shure thath it can comunicate with the database, because if i change the value in "Portals" table the site has a different response. Then I try to check all the web.config and I found 2 connection strings and I changed both. Whath do you mean when you say "there is a ... miss match in the file system files and the DB version" ??

You could also try the following but I think it's less likely to work.

If CustomErrors are set to Off you could try and also make sure that the custom errors are turned off in DNN by adding/updating the Host Setting UseCustomErrorMessages and set the value equal tooin the HostSettings table and restart the application pool.

Then I will try this ... Thank you

What permissions? I connect to DB with full access ("sa" user) but I can't understand in what do you mean with "files permissions" ...

What I meant by the miss-match is that the database thinks it is running version 6.0 but the file system has all the files for version 6.0.1 (for example).

If you are able to communicate with the database and changing the portal Alias yields a different error then you might be in luck that it is also trapping the error. Check the EventLog and order by the createdByDate descending and see what the latest errors are. If the timestamp matches up with your error then we can use that to debug where it's faulting.

In cases like this it's usually easier to just get in there and see what's going on then trying to guess at it.
