NEW SERVER INSTALLED AND RUNNING A BLANK DNN

    VBAHUNFA1 - Installation

Current SQL Express Version= SQL Server  2008 R2 Express

Current DNN Version =  06.00.00 (2982)

I was able to backup the database from the old server and after creating a blank database called DotNetNuke on the new server under SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, I was able to restore the database thereby replacing the DotNetNuke database in the new server.

The problem is the new installation of DotNetNuke on the new server has the databse in a different location. It is also a different name. THe new server has it located in

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA

The new installation of DotNetNuke is not connecting to the restored database. I am unable to figure out how to change DotNetNuke configuration to connect to the newly restored database. Any suggestions?

OK changed my method. I shut down both servers IIS services and stopped the SQL Databse Server. I then copied the entire DNN folder form the wwwroot from one server to the other. I changed the path in the SQL Database to point to the new server. I also checked and modified the path of the sites config file. The idea was just to port over the existing site and once I get that running I would then upgrade the site to the newest version. The site keeps saying Under Construciton when I attempt to start it. Any ideas.

Still no success. Why is moving DNN from one server to another so hard. There should be a utility or something.
