I need to work on a project for a client. My needs included to choose a CMS for website, e-commerce system, e-learning system and one more goal which is described below:

• My client has a desktop based application which is used to store all the records of the resources what they have in a museum. Now, to show the information from its database on the new website, I need to build a medium/module which can read data from desktop software's database and then the data can be viewed, searched, etc by online visitors!!!

If you only want to display and search data you might want to look at the reports module and see how much that will fit your use. For advanced form modules you can look at xmod pro ( not free ). Based on what you say here I don't think you will need to do much of development maybe some template work for the selected form module but that's it

I want to build the above systems in order to get knowledge of ASP.NET and C# instead of using existing free or paid modules/components. 

Can you please guide me for the path of developing the above systems...
