Hi
At the moment I'm not using a windows service, I'm just trying to get it to work using the asmx page of the web service, I've trimmed down my web.config as you suggested in the example above. So my config just looks like this now...

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<configuration>

<connectionStrings>

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=SERVERHERE;Initial Catalog=DB;User ID=USER;password=PWD"/>

</connectionStrings>

<system.web>

<machineKey validationKey="KEYHERE" decryptionKey="KEYHERE" decryption="3DES" validation="SHA1"/>

<membership defaultProvider="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" userIsOnlineTimeWindow="15">

<providers>

<clear/>

<add name="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider" connectionStringName="SiteSqlServer" enablePasswordRetrieval="true" enablePasswordReset="true" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" minRequiredPasswordLength="7" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="0" requiresUniqueEmail="false" passwordFormat="Encrypted" applicationName="DotNetNuke" description="Stores and retrieves membership data from the local Microsoft SQL Server database"/>

</providers>

</membership>

<compilation debug="true"/>

</system.web>

</configuration>

but my member provider is still null.

It's on a separate site.

I've decided to take a different approach managed to get the functionality I wanted by using the System.Web.Security.Membership.Provider.CreateUser method and then in t-sql I add the created user into the dnn_users, dnn_userroles and just create a minimal profile in dnn_userprofile.

Bodged method seems to work at the moment, was trying to avoid hacking the DB but needs must.

Is there a way to add a new page programatically from a WinForms App? I see the link

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Create-a-new-page-programmatically.aspx to create it from within the website.

But, I need to create an HTML Document and FTP it to my DNN Portal Or create a New Page Programatically from my local Winforms App. Any suggestions?

most people add a webservice layer (e.g. via http://iweb.codeplex.com/) and then make httpwebrequests to that from their winform/windows service.
