We also run multiple web sites on different versions of DNN with exactly the same issues and wonder if you've been able to solve the problems.

We too have been experiencing this same issue.  We have disabled all schedule tasks in host and the problem still remains.

What else can be looked into?

Yes same with me. This is a very serious issue. I have moved from a Shared Plan to business plan and since a few days i have not received any of the issues with the app pool but i am concerned if that does the trick. In shared plan we have 250 Mb ram and in business we get 500 MB Ram.

We increased the memory to 500 mb and everything was fine. Problems occurred in sites with many tabs.I have > 400 tabs with 4 module in each tabs.

please be aware, that DNN requires a lot of memory for caching. 500 MB might be fine for smaller sites.
