I run a small web site for a sports oriented site, and have been having problems with the bulk email feature.  I can run the smtp configuration test from the host settings page and it gives the "Email Sent Successfully" response, using either basic authentication or anonymous auth.  My ISP is Godaddy, so I have to set the smtp server to relay-hosting.secureserver.net per their policies, and this allows me to send email from my site without specifying a username or password since the site is automatically authorized to relay email.  I do receive the SMPT Configuratin Test email, so the configuration appears to be okay.  However, when I try to send bulk email from the Admin menu to one of the user roles I get an error.  I am using the default settings for most everything - I just select the role I am sending to, add my subject line, a bit of text in the body, attach a small pdf file, then click Send.  The bulk email page shows a message that "Bulk mail sent (asynchronous mode). Please check confirmation email for result".  I then get an email with a subject line "Bulkmal 'subject' submitted" and the body of that email indicates that "User xxx submitted a bulkmail to nnn recipients - Please review the sendout report for failed transmissions and the senders inbox for returns".  Shortly after that I get an email that I had nnn recipients, but nnn-1 of them failed:  "Status Report:  There is a problem with the configuration of your SMTP Server. Mail was not sent.".  All of this happens when I am trying to use the send method setting of "One Message per email address (personalized)". If I change the send method to BCC - One email to blind distribution list (not personalized), then the email is sent and all the BCC recipients in the role get their emails, and the Bulk Mail report email correctly shows the number of emails sent, a list of all the addresses sent to, and shows no errors.

Does any of the above give a hint as to what is wrong with the bulk email code?  I know for a fact that this used to work in the version 5.x - at least up until the last year or so. I am currently on the latest version of DNN - 6.0.1 - community version.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide for this issue.

it sounds, like your mailhost doesn't accept bulkmails and limits mails per minute to be sent or sth like this, please check the mailbox configuration and server instructions.

Hi I have a similar problem on 6.01.
When I send bulk mail WITH attachment, only the first email leaves. The other emails give the error.
Without attachment, it goes out normally.

On the same server I have a DNN 4.x environment running where I use the same smtp server and this works without problems.

I upgraded one of my environments to DNN 6.02 but the issue is still there.

It looks like there is a problem with sending bulk mail with attachments in DNN 6.xx
I have this problem on both upgraded DNN environments (to 6.01) and on fresh installs.

May we expect a fix for this?

Martin
