I have also discovered that there are 45 separate entries in [dbo].[ContentItems] containing various versions of module name in the [Content] field reflecting my various attempts to add the module, I imagine. Presumably they are added before the adding to page process fails, but could they now be contributing to the problem? Is is safe to delete these records, which are presumably orphans, given that the add procedure invariable fails with the null object error from AddModule as given in above posts?

Also in the orphaned ContentItems records, very many of them have a ContentKey field that is NULL - is this to be expected?
