Hi I am running DNN 6

I have recently restored a backup from a database (I have full access to the database)

I cannot login to my dnn site using user "host" or "admin" as I seem to have fogotten the host and admin passwords.

Given that I can access the database is what do I need to do to reset these to something I know or to empty.

I cannot request the passwords be emailed to me as the email facility is not set up.

Thanks for your help

Derek

Make a new register in website, then if you have access to DB, open Users and aspnet_Membership, localize new user you registered and host in Membership table, then copy PasswordSalt and Password from last registered user to host and admin, then you can login in website with user host and the password from last registered user.

You understand?

Hi Albert,

Thanks for your response. I should have said I am very new to DNN so I am not quite sure what you mean when you say "make a new register in website". I am thinking perhaps you mean I should sign up as a new user?

My web site has no facility for users to sign up via the public interface, and I cannot login to get to the admin part of the web site.

Or is there a way to get at the signup facility even if there is no link on my actual web site for new users?

I really need instructions about what to change directly in the DB without any new user having to be created via the web site itself.

Many thanks
Derek

Thanks but is it possible for you to tell me how to create a user just via the database or how to access the DNN add user feature (given that my site does not actually have a register user link). So at the moment I have no idea how to create a new user.

Thanks
Derek
