I installed the Weather module and it works great. I had to visit Weather .com and sign up to get a partner ID and key but I only have a trial key now. They want almost $70 per month for this beyond the trial! This is not something I am willing to pay for when we can get that info for free so many other ways. It is worth noting that I am providing this on a corporate intranet, not a public web site. I emailed Weather.com and they told me that the charges are not intended for end users / site admins, rather for the people who develop the module. I cannot find any documentation from Oliver Hine on how to best accomplish this without being indebt to Weather.com indefinitely.

Has anyone else run into this? How are you accomplishing the link to Weather.com? Below is Weather.com's response to me.......

The folks that created the weather widget for DotNetNuke (i.e. the developer) should be the one subscribing to a feed from The Weather Channel and then providing their constituents (i.e. you) with access to the service.  The Weather Channel API is not intended for personal, non-commercial use.  It is intended for developers to build commercial applications with or to power websites that have a means of monetizing the content.  The Weather Channel offers an array of free offerings for display on a website that can be used for personal, non-commercial use or in your case, an intranet.  You can view these at http://www.weather.com/services/weath....  If you are looking for a limited amount of information (i.e. such as the temperature), you may also want to try our RSS feed at: http://www.weather.com/weather/rss/su....

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think I found the solution, and I hope this post helps. The single biggest gripe I have with using DNN is the lack of documentation and/or readily available info on modules. I find myself hunting frantically for solutions all over the place. I hope my post here helps consolidate just a little bit more useful info to the DNN forums for others to benefit from.

What is not on this site or at the codeplex site is a very useful titbit that Oliver Hine provides on his own website. Hit the link below and you will find exactly what you need to get a free feed to the weather module. Good luck!

I have a weather module that I wrote for DNN a few years ago that relies on the Yahoo weather service for this very reason.

I will be updating it very soon and as always, offering it for free.

Stay tuned...
