Hi there

I have a couple of (probably basic) questions about working with the DNN source code in VS2008. It is my first attempt, so please don't be too unkind! I have the solution set up and compiling OK, so no problem there: I have the solution and source projects configured locally, but I want to be able to compile the solution directly into an IIS web site, rather than the local Website folder within the solution folder hierarchy, as it does by default. I want to be able to follow the debugger through as the site runs from the IIS site folder. I have no problem with all the Attach to Process procedure, and the associated networking issues, that is not the issue here, but my questions are instead about how to customize the build to facilitate this debugging, as follows:

1. I was hoping to find an MSBuild targets file within the source code within which I could customize the build output to a subfolder of my IIS , but it appears the build is not as simple as that. Perhaps the targets file is generated dynamically. Where is the output of the build actually configured, and what is the best way of modifying it?

2. After each rebuild, is there any requirement to shortcut the initial install procedure, e.g., how capable is DNN of detecting that it is being rebuilt into the same location, and that it should use the existing database from the previous (original) install. For example, if I include the connection string for the existing database in the web.config of the source code project, will DNN find the previous database automatically, and bypass the 'first run' setup wizard?

Thanks very much if you could clarify these questions for me.

Regards
