Finally my DNN site was coming together, really starting to take shape, then, I installed the "required" update for DNN, 6.0 I think,(w/godaddy.com) and my site worked at first except for the login page which was all jumbled and caused a crash when I tried to login... now I cannot access the DNN site at all. (also, a rollback did not help and re-updating was unsuccesful)

Further-more the web.config file is perpetually being used by another process, so it can not be edited, over-written, deleted etc.  This, I believe, is also the reason I cannot BU the SQL Db, the attempt is repeatedly unsuccessful.

Firstly, fyi, I am a DNN amateur at best, learning as I go…
1) Is there a way to unlock the web.config file?
2) Before updating, I used an “app_offline.htm” file to down the site and backed-up all dnn
folders through an ftp… did the Db and all my pages get saved this way?
(as indicated per a DNN video on backups)
3) Can I use the fore-mentioned bu to restore a DNN reload?
4) basically, how can I save a Year and a half of work?

Depending on your particular error it may be as simple as downloading the complete install version of DNN, then upload the Telerik.dll file from the bin directory to your site's bin directory.

This "fixed" my broken site after upgrade to 6.0.2, I still don't have Admin and Host menus but the site is running. Supposedly there are some IsVisible fields in the Tabs table that need to be switched back to "1" for TabID 7 or something and that should bring them back, I just haven't had time to try that yet.

Hope this helps.
