Hi Nina,

Thank you for the response. I am aware of how to set the login page etc. but my problem is not just with login. Whenever I perform any admin function my menu disappears. This is because I am not using solpart. I am using Housemenu in a content pane. When accessing an admin screen dnn does not show any pane content except the main content pane. Therefore my menu's do not show up. I beleive a skinobject version of the menu would work but I cannot get that working.

An example of this is just to edit text in a text/html module.

I wish I could use Solpart but it is too complex for my humble skinning skills - I could write any module you want but html - css, that confuses me. I'm a programmer not a skinner Jim. (sorry Trekkies). You are welcome to look at the site http://cibpa-stage.gotdns.com/cibpa to see what I am trying to do with my menus (they are the basic issue) and see if it is possible with solpart as a skinobject.

Actually, I wish the project had a budget. A budget that would allow me to hire a skinning resource! This is one of those 'do the work, hope we get the job' kind of things. But no, they barely get the benefit of using dnn so I have to do it all myself.

thanks again

Gavin

Gavin,

I have already explained that this is the way that DNN works when loading controls dynamically. This is the case of an edit screen. Unless the module takes care of loading controls dynamically in the same view screen, that's the way it will work. This has nothing to do with the Solpartmenu.

PS. You are already unmoderated.

Hey Nes,

Yep, yep and yep. I get it. I understand how dnn works, Mostly!

1) Yes, I can set up a login page

2) I can apply skins as required.

3) I am using HouseMenu for menus (in a container, on a skinned page)

4) Even though the skins are the same, when I go into an admin function - any admin function- I only get the contentpane. No other panes show up. This is undoubtably the way dnn is supposed to work. BUT! If I don't use solpart or I don't use a skin object for menus then I lose the ability to navigate.

What I would really like to know is how I keep my menus on the page when I (for example) click 'edit text' on a simple text/html module. I know dnn knows the panes are there but doesn't populate them.

Gavin.

Gavin,

you need an admin skin with a navigation skin object - either a menu or the links tag. Please notice, that there is a skin onject version of house menu available for free as well, I recommend to use it instead of the menu module. Menu modules are usefull for additional sub page menus.
