I am in the process of trying to make our newly designed website mobile friendly (currently in an internal QA environment).

I read an article here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/B... that said that the goal under 6.1 was to add the mobile api to the core framework.  I am currently running DNN 6.2 (upgraded from 6.0 to 6.1 to 6.2) and do not see the functionality described in this article.

Before being forced to purchase something to determine the device and redirect accordingly, I was wondering if this functionality is a part of the core or if the Mobile API needs to be purchased from snowcovered.  If there is a plan to include this in the core and it has not yet been done, when will this functionality become available?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I suspect you mean you upgraded from 6.0.0 to 6.0.1 to 6.0.2... 6.1.0 is still in beta, and it's there that DNN is significantly adding to the mobile functionality.

However, while the stuff is in the API, it looks like all of the useful modules and things to work with those settings will only be in the enterprise/professional editions.

That's correct, all the mobile functionality is in 6.1 (not in 6.0.1 or 6.0.2). 6.1 (currently in beta is very close to release (1-2 weeks). Core has all the API, the Management tools (UI / Skins / Mobile Template)are present in Professional and Enterprise.

Ash,

Thanks for your prompt response and you are correct I was referring to 6.0.0-6.0.2. We are running the Professional edition with Elite support so I should be able to acquire the new code when it becomes available. Any idea when 6.1.0 will be released? I would hate to purchase something on snowcovered only to have the functionality I need included in the core shortly after my purchase. Is there any way to obtain the core code that provides the ability to redirect to a different page for a mobile device prior to the release of the 6.1 version of the code?

Thanks,
Jeff

FYI 6.1.0 is expected in about 1 week (depending on passing final QA testing)
