Hi,
I am running DNN 05.01.01 (98).  I had a request that I needed to delete some .pdf documents from one site that were no longer supposed to be on the site.  I had these documents setup in a document library.  I went into the library and deleted the files in question.   A week later I was told that at least some of the files were still accessible, if not directly from site, from direct URL's.  I am not sure how this person found this URL but going to http://www.madisonsamoyed.org/LinkCli... will display one of the files I did delete.  I then searched the folder structure on the web server hard drive and found where the .pdf documents reside.  The document referenced in the above URL was NOT there but some of the other ones I deleted were still there so I deleted them all from the server too.  I did a restart application of the DNN app and then tried this URL but it still works.  I need some advice on how to properly get rid of these files.  It isn't enough that they are no longer visible in the document library.  I need to make sure they are gone for good and can't be found in any way.  I admit I do not know much about DNN so please forgive me.
Thanks
Chris

Greetings Chris ~

Probably you deleted entries from a "documents module".  Doing that would just delete the links that the module exposes on a page and not actually delete the files themselves (which is why the direct links still work).  The way to be sure to delete a file is to do so from the File Manager, which is under the Admin menu.

Cheers

Hi,
I went in and deleted the files using file manager but I am confused by how this particular link is able to display a .pdf file that I have deleted.

http://www.madisonsamoyed.org/LinkCli...
Obviously this file is still available somewhere on the server but I can't figure out where it is to delete it.  Can anyone shed some light on what is going on?
thanks
Chris

most likely, you didn't delete the file on the server, otherwise it wouldn't be doenloaded.
