Due to the redesign of core APIs in the new release of DNN 6.1.0 and the removed appreciated in-line edit "WYSIWYG" of content directly on the webpage, I would like to hear which version DNN management recommends us CE users to deploy, if we want in-line edit and all the DNN standard modules to work. For my company, and I speak only for myself, the annual fee of US$ 2.500 for these humble wishes seems inappropriate.

I am running a development site based on DNN 4.9.4 and it works very well, but the mobile devices detection and separated skinning ability for mobile units seemed interesting, as we were thinking of an upgrade.

What do you mean - all the standard modules to work ????

DNN 6.1.0 does not change any support for standard modules - it simply no longer forces you to download the entire lot as part of your initial install.

IMHO inline edit always suffered, and with the support of popups in DNN 6, there is an easy substitute. Besides, there are no known API changes and new obvious changes in DNN 6 community are the requirement to download modules instead of providing them for local install. Due to a number of known issues, you should check carefully, whether upgrading to 6.1.0 or waiting for 6.1.1

Hi Wes, I just noticed that the core modules in the initial install were not there anymore. Now I found that instead of downloading a COMPLETE package, I have to waste my time installing the modules one by one from the extension library, which works well but is time consuming for an initial install. If you want to separate the core modules from the platform, which could make sense, you should provide a full core module package with all core modules in their latest versions, to enable DNN customers performing an easy and quick startup when doing a clean install.

btw .. here were I live we have broadband connections with up to 100MBit/s so downloading the "entire lot" ... the extra size of the core modules is not a problem, really !

Hi Gunnar, this is a known issue in DNN 6.1, the best hint I could provide would be installing DNN 6.0.2 and upgrade to 6.1.1 - AFAIR, there were very few module upgraded in between. Of course, I see a need for a better solution to overcome this limitation.
