Hello,

I'm new to dotnetnuke skinning and am trying to update te 'Body' tag using a JQuery function:

$(document).ready(function ()
{
$("body").attr("id", "home-page");
});

But it doesn't seem to work. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or isn't it possible tot update the body tag from an ascx control?

Try to use jQuery instead of $
like
jQuery(document).ready(function()
{
jQuery('body').attr("id","home-page")
}

No succes. But when showing an alert using $ the alert function works. It seems that the onDocumentReady of Jqeury isn't exucuted on the wright time of the rendering process so the body tag is overwritten or the on the time of excution the body tag isn't accessable ik think. Is there a way of troubleshooting such problems to pin-point the exact problem or has some ever experienced this problem before and already knows the answer?

Hi Albert,

Can you share why would it make a difference to choose jQuery or $?  I thought they were interchangeable.

Best wishes,

Hi Ricard,

there is no difference. But.....there are multiple (javascript) frameworks that support the $-sign, so the $-sgn could be ambigious en therefore will not work. By using Jquery instead of "$" you lose this ambigiousness. (I hope the last word is in normal english ;-) )
