I found that I can actually FTP some files into a folder found in the File Manager, and have them appear in the list of available documents to use throughout the site.  Some files are not showing up though.

If I put a .doc or .docx file into the folder manually (not uploading through the file manager or documents module, but actually FTPing the file up to the folder), then click Refresh or Synchronize on the folder, the new file appears in the file manager.

I cannot get this to work for .zip or .7z files.  I tried going to the Host Setting -> Other Settings -> Allowable File Extensions:  and adding .7z there (.zip was already on the list), but this did not help.

Why can some files be manually added to the folder and appear, but others cannot?  What do I need to do to fix this?

After checking another similar post, I verified there are no strange characters in the file names. I also uploaded a zip file FROM the file manager successfully. Still hoping for some input on this issue. Is there a setting for the synchronize somewhere that makes it check for other file types?

Can someone at least tell me if they have had success with synchronizing a folder that contains zip or 7z files?

I was able to figure this out.  My issue was that the security settings on the items being dropped into the folder where not correct.  If I just moved a folder, the correct user was not being inherited from the parent folder.  Once I added the user, it displayed correctly (as long as the file extension had been added from Host Settings -> Other Setttings ...)

Thank you

you might also need to add "7z" as allowed extension in Host Settings.

Cheers from Germany,
