Hi,<br /> <br /> Running DNN 6.0.2 and Survey module 04.70.00.<br /> <br /> I created a new child portal to work on a new site and needed to conduct a survey, so created a new page and tried to add a Survey module (never tried using it before this) and got this message:<br /> <br /> <h1>Server Error in '/' Application.<hr color="silver" width="100%" size="1" /> </h1> <h2> <em>Runtime Error</em> </h2> <strong> Description: </strong>An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. <br /> <br /> <strong>Details:</strong> To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".<br /> <br /> <table width="100%" style="background-color: #ffffcc;"> <tbody> <tr> <td> <code> <pre><!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/>  </system.web> </configuration></pre> </code> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <br /> <strong>Notes:</strong> The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.<br /> <br /> <table width="747" height="122" style="background-color: #ffffcc;"> <tbody> <tr> <td> <code> <pre><!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/> </system.web> </configuration></pre> </code></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <br /> I added the <customErrors> tag to my web.config file but still the same error.<br /> <br /> This is affecting all my portals on this installation so need help! Or do I just roll back to last night's backup?<br /> <br /> Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Can you get to any page?  If so - check the error log under Admin - Event Viewer and see what's being thrown.

If not - you could do as it says and edit the web.config and set customErrors="false" BUT you open it up for showing too much info to other users - so IF you change it - be sure to change it back once done!  The error may let you know if maybe something is missing.

Finally - If you've got no worries about restoring to your last backup though and don't think you'll be losing any needed data.

Hi Andrew and thanks for your reply.

No, I couldn't get to any page, I did try setting customErrors to false but that didn't seem to work (and I changed it back).

Anyhow, after several hours, my site is now up and running somehow (and no errors logged).  I had contacted my host provider earlier but they hadn't done anything.

And when I logged in, the Survey module had been added to the page and appears to be working.

Weird but it's up and running.
