Hi everyone,

I am running DNN 5.6 on shared Godaddy hosting with newsletter module 1.0.0.  For the past few months since I upgraded to 5.6, I have been getting email confirmation of a bulk email sent.  It has significantly increased over the past week.  The bulk email always fails (text below).   It is either a SMTP failure or a recipient not specified error. (My SMTP server is working correctly)

A handful of questions: How is someone getting access to the administrative bulk email portion of my site?  Is this because I'm on shared hosting (Godaddy denies it is there problem?)  Is there are a setting or bulk email update that I'm missing?

Thank you in advance!

What are my folder settings supposed to be for the admin folder?  Read and Write?  Could that be what is allowing access to the newsletter module?   I don't want to make the adjustment until I know because this is my busiest time of year for sales.  Any help is appreciated.

Joe, access to the module is controlled by DNN permissions, not on the filesystem. Did you place the module on any page visible to other users than admins? After you fixed this issue, please check your SMTP settings in Host Settings - there might be an issue with the configuration as well causing the errors you mentioned first.

Thank you for the reply Sebastian.  I checked all of the areas where I could have the module and everything is under admin lock and key.  I was thinking the folder system as if someone wrote a script to run a file in the newsletter folder.  Not even sure if that is possible.  My SMTP settings are correct.  We send information out to our customers every so often.  Do you think shared hosting or a shared IP may be the issue?

Joe, sorry, but the error message indicates that you cannot send out emails to users outside your domain. Is your email account configured for "relaying"?
