Hi,  I am quite new to the whole portal admin side of things.  I am now the host of 5 large websites created in DNN.  I need to delete all but one portal (delete / remove 4 portals)s o I  can handover a backup of the the DB to one of the clients.

So the big question I have is: How do I delete a portal in DNN 3?

I can't seem to find a delete portal function.  I am hoping I don't have to create complicated SQL scripts :( .

ANY Help appreciated!!!  many thanks for reading this...

login as host.
choose portal from host menu.
edit the portal you want to delete (pencil).
choose delete (near the bottom next to update, cancel)

Hi Thanks for the quick responce - I found this and it works - Many Thanks!
I now have another prob...

Before I go and delete all the portals, I need to make a local running version of DNN.  This will allow me to keep the live site 'as is' and the local version will become the stripped down version with just one portal on it.

I have taken the file straucture from the live site, Backed up and Restored the SQL, sorted web.config, folder privelidges are set up and ISS points to the new local area.  I have got this up and running and initially everything was ready for deleting(!). Until...

I did a quick test of adding a new portal.  and deleting it.  I noticed the live site was picking up the commands! (I almost deleted my live sites :( ).  I think this is to do with my http aliases leaping to live URLs (?!?!?).

I have no idea how to stop this (?) and is there anyway of testing which DB a function from the host functions will get affected?

Sorry for the war and peace version!- thought it would be best to give as much info...  many thanks.

OK - Ive sorted the above.  I just replaced my new local dnn url with the default portal alias.  This tops DNN forwaring/redirecting to an existing live dnn portal.

New Problem

I have deleted almost all the portals I do not need except for one(with success).  This problem site has 1500 users subscribed and is quite large.  This is the only site that I ca not delete.  It seems to time out(?) and not complete the delete process. So when I interuppted it (after 4 hours), The site has deleted some of the portal but not all which means DNN can not retrieve the site settings so I can not delete it again .

Has anybody got any experience with this issue?  Any advice appreciated!

Thanks!
