After a fresh install, using the DarkKnight skin and blank website, I activated the client resource management according to the video (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/V...) and related documentation. The skin doesn't render properly. The site loads as plain text and many features no longer work, such as adding pages, modules and the install extension wizard.

I downloaded the admin module and installed it by putting it in the install/modules folder and calling install.aspx?mode=installresources. I can't add the module to a page because I can't add pages or modules now that the site is broken.

I deleted the site files, re-uploaded the files from the community edition zip and then ran an upgrade install to reinstall the skin, modules, etc. The site loads, but the skin still isn't rendering properly, even though all of the files are fresh. I'm guessing that activating client resource management makes changes to the DB?

I guess I'll just start from scratch, recreate the DB, reinstall the site, and try the module since this was only a test site anyway, but I'd just like to better understand how the client resource management functions and why this would happen.

Hello everyone!

There's any possibility to accomplish the same goal with DNN 5.6.3?

I'm trying so hard to find a way for forcing client refresh or for versioning my skin.css file but with no success:

  • I tried to remove (or to set an old date) on "static content - > client cache" on the web.config but didn't work.
  • I also tried to click on Clear cache link on the host settings -> performance settings, again no success.

Would you please help me to find a solution other than upgrading to 6.x DNN versions?

ps: here is how I set the web.config:

...staticcontent - clientcache - cachecontrolmode="UseExpires" httpexpires="Mon, 12 Nov 2012 00:00:00 GMT" /clientcachestaticcontent...

Best regards.

G.Z.
