I have edited one of my template layout .ascx files adding two more panes.  Below is a simple diagram of what I'm trying to acheive:  Pic1

 Here is a snippet of code from the .ascx layout file:  Pic2

When going to a page in DNN I can apply the page layout template without issue but when I got to add a module and attempt to put it into one of the panes I though I had added, the menu doesn't show these new panes:  Pic3

However, when you look at the source of the page the two pane divs are actually being rendered:  Pic4

I am sure I am missing a simple yet fundamental step in the process of editing the layout but I have no idea as to what this could be.

 Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks in advanced.

 Ryan.

I would imagine this is caused because you have "nested" those two panes, into an existing Pane.

Try something like

<div id="PaneWrapper">
<div id="CenterPane" runat="server" />
<div id="CenterLeftPane" runat="server" />
<div id="CenterRightPane" runat="server" />
</div>

you cannot nest panes, because pane content gets replaced by module content, when the skin is parsed on the server.

Thanks for the help guys, I knew this would be a simple issue to fix.  Instead of nesting panes inside of other panes I have now just put the panes in order within a wrapper div and now everything is displayed as it should be.

You will want to style things so that the positioning works, but once you do that it should work.
