Hi ,

I have worked with DotNetNuke a bit before through webmatrix. However, this time I installed the portal through web gallery. The problem i have is that the database for my portal comes up as sitesqlserver, In my management studio, no such server or database shows up.

How can I find in a folder or somehow connect that server/ database that I can somehow see on webmatrix , onto my local servers that I created and can see from Management studio?

Although several years old, the following forum post helps to explain where the database is located, how to attach to it from SSME, and most importantly the changes that will be required to yoru installation's web.config to be able to access it from DotNetNuke after having attached to it using SSME:

please check your web.config file for the connection strings, by default it points to database.mdf in /app_data folder. However, if you attach it to your server, e.g. to access data in SQL Server Management Studio, your web site will no longer be able to access the data, see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/1202/DNN-SQLExpress-SQL-Server-Management-Studio.aspx
