Currently on 06.01.01 (from 06.00.01) and the File Manager is not working. If I click on the plus/expand I get a spinning circle (going on and on). My understanding was that this issue was supposed to be fixed.
I have tried unchecking 'Auto-Sync File System' as suggested in another post, but it did not help.

did you try with Default skin and - if using IE - in IE 8/IE9 mode (check by pressing F12)

It does not work in IE (even with Compatibility View (I'm using IE 9)

You suggestion did cause me to try Google Chrome and Firefox.  It works well in Chrome, but Firefox has the same problem as IE.

it sounds like some client code being interfering - does your skin or a module on all pages prevent the client code to run? do you get details of the error when enabling error display in the browser?

Using IE (F12 developer tools)  when I click on the + button in file manager to expand I get the following script error:

SCRIPT5022: Sys.ArgumentException: Cannot deserialize empty string.
Parameter name: data
