Is there a way to get a flowless move of a DNN website from a Windows 2003 to a Windows 2008 ( IIS7 ) environment? Looks like the websites will not work under the Network Service user anymore....

Is there a full procedure on moving a DNN website on a 2008 IIS7 server?

Thanks

there should be no problem, as long as you are usng same ASp.Net version for both app pools and adjust file system permissions accordingly. If you still experiencing issues, please provide details of your situation.

In addition to Sebastien's suggestions also check whether the app pool is running in 32 or 64bit mode and make sure the new location is running the same as the old.

The majority of 2008 boxes are running in 64bit which can stop some dnn sites with 3rd patty modules that require 32bit. With 2003 the majority ran 32bit.

Hi, i have introduced a new windows 2008 r2 server to replace the existing windows 2003 r2 running iis 6, sql express 2005, .net v2.0.50727 and dnn4. The 2008 server was installed with sql express 2008r2 and iis 7.5.

Installed web server role added all application roles in the web server role.I backed up the 2005 database and restored it to the new server to sql express 2008, did iis migration from 6.0 to 7.5 using web deploy 2.0.

After migrations of database and iis when browsing website via iis manager received http 500 error, to resolve this i changed the app pool from integrated to classic. The error message changed to http 404.17, to resolve click on handler mappings revert to parent. Error message changed to Error installing dotnetnuke error: could not connect to database specified In connectionstring for Sql data provider

Im thinking that i have permissions issue.

on the old server aspnet user is iusr which is the same on the new server but im not sure if the anoynomous account on the 2003 server uses the same password when running on the 2008 server.
