I would have thought it to be a permissions issue also but now that that has been rulled out am wondering if you have a corrupted web.config file.

Which DotNetNuke package (install, source, WPI, etc.) are you using?

Have you tried installing from a freshly downloaded (an "unblocked") package?

Are you making any manual edits to web.config before installing or are you letting the installer Wizard make changes (such as to connection strings) for you?

Hi,

I'm getting exactly the same error trying to install DotNetNuke server side via my host using a full SQL 2008 db, can see it's creating the tables ok, up to point the error occurs. Have also checked all permissions suggested in this thread so far and can't see anything that is preventing install. Still trying to troubleshoot, so any other ideas are welcome.

Thanks,

Jonathan

 Hi Bill,

Sorry for the delay - I didn't get a notification that this thread was updated.

The issue (in my case) happens when installing through the Microsoft Web Application Gallery and letting it auto-install to the hosting site through the control panel (Website Panel). The version in the WAG is 6.1.1 Community Edition.

If I download to WebMatrix on my local machine and set the database connection strings, then publish up to the server - with all other settings the same - I can get it to complete the install. There are still a few errors, but the installer skips them and just reports so I assume they are benign. After the install, it seems to work okay.

No. No manual edits to the web.config. It literally is just the auto-install directly to the website via the WAG.

Thanks for any help on this and tips to resolve it. I'd love for our clients to be able to leverage this WAG auto-install process properly (as they do with WordPress, Umbraco, etc.) so we can encourage use of the DNN platform.
