Check that you have packaged and zipped them correctly - it's the most common error for newcomers -

You MUST zip the file while you are in the directory, not outside and selecting the folder. I've created a video that covers these common problems that you can download from my site.

Try repackaging the skin correctly and you will eliminate this problem.

I dont think its a packaging issue since the included DNN modules and containers are also not selectable. I moved the database and files to my development instance and everything works. Ive tried the following:

  • Moved a fresh copy of the install files to the instance in question just in case a file had been corrupted.
  • Reset permissions on the folder hierarchy.
  • Uploaded a new package. New package not selectable.
  • Reparsed the existing packages.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

MW

Aah well when we have more facts it does change the picture doesn't it.  It sounds more like an installation/configuration issue.

Have you got the modules back in now? Did you reinstall or what?

Also, I can select different skins and containers at the page and container level, but not from the "Skins" menu under "Admin" and "Host".

If I copy the files and database to other servers it works.

One other thing to note: I have two installations of the portal on the same server pointing to separate databases. One instance is working  and the other is not working.
