I decided to try DNN4Less on a lower traffic site and have been using them for this site for 8 or 10 months now.

 A couple of months ago my bank arbitrarily decided that the charge from DNN4less looked like a scam and refused it.  At which point DNN4less shut my website down without calling me, emailing me, IM'ing me, nothing. No notice what-so-ever.  I called and explained to them that this was less than professional and they apologized and said this was not how they do business.

 Today I notice that my website is down again. After checking, I found that I forgot to update my CC on their site when I got my new CC awhile back.  Once again they shut my website down with no notice at all.  I had no chance to fix the problem prior to my website going off line.

DNN4Less seems to have the technical side of things under control as I have found their servers to be fast. But, unfortunately they are asleep-at-the-wheel on the admin side of things.  I'd say they are good for hosting club sites, church sites,  and hobby type sites.  But if your site is for business you will need a hosting company that is a little more professional.

Have a look at their pricing - and you will get a pretty good idea of their target audience.

It never fails to amaze me that businesses want to pay nothing for web hosting but then complain when its not what they expected.

Pay peanuts get . . .

Hi Greg-

I just noticed this post, I am sorry you went through a bad experience with our Billing System, even though we try our best to provide the excellent service and support and try to keep all our clients happy, it has been already proven that not all the clients can be happy at the same time for different reasons.

Your issue was related to Billing; I investigated it and found that your account was past due since December 4th 2011, as per our billing policy, we offer 15 day grace period to pay the outstanding balance while your website stays online and your site was live until December 19th 2011, (we believe that 15 days are enough to pay a small hosting fee).  As you mentioned that you were never notified for this issue, it could be an error from our end, I assure you that I will investigate it myself and get it resolved to avoid future troubles, after all we value your business.

Just because we do care of our clients and are standing behind our products and services I have issued you a full one month credit to your hosting account, which you can use towards your hosting fee or other services,

If you have any question or would like to discuss in detail please feel free to shoot me an email.

Once again I am sorry for the trouble you had.

@Wes-

In most cases I would agree with you but there are times when you need Cadillac resources and times you don't. I have "brochureware" type sites like this one that don't need much bandwidth or disk space so I don't need Cadillac resources.  I also have mission critical type sites that need high bandwidth and lot's of storage space and I expect to pay for Cadillac resources. In either case, however, I expect customer support, billing, and general admin to be good.

@Rashid

It is comforting to know that you do have a grace period in place and 15 days is more than enough. However, said grace period is totally useless if the client has no idea that there is a problem.  While I appreciate your gesture of a free month it is not expected and I would much prefer you apply those funds to a better smtp server, fixing your current smtp server, or more education for your customer support personnel.  While both of my problems had to do with my CC - I can't fix something I don't know about.

@Greg - The first issue is fair but regarding the second issue, you should know when you need to pay for something.
